Frightened Rabbit @ Diesel

Frightened Rabbit at Diesel last night was enjoyable, until I turned on WDUQ on the drive home and realized the election “results” from a friend’s phone earlier in the evening had duped me into believing — for the length of a set, at least — that America might not be so demented after all. When, in fact, America is demented, and Pennsylvania is leading the dementia.

Anyway.

More on the music. Frightened Rabbit’s taught me my new favorite pick-up line (if I used pick-up lines, that is): “Let’s get old fashioned.” Right up there with: “Let’s get paralyzed down both sides” (no, I don’t know what that means). Also courtesy of Frightened Rabbit. Also spectacular.

Maybe I didn’t love last night’s show as much as I coulda because I’ve been looping Marnie Stern’s self-titled 30-minute spazzercize for the past week. After the angles of “Nothing Left,” even “The Twist,” my favorite by FR, feels a bit dulled down.
